Travel Log: Day 74 (9/9), Tokyo Japan

This morning we returned to school as usual. In the afternoon we went to Nakamise Shopping Street. It’s a several block area that has a bunch of food and souvenir shops. JC and AC spent time going to the souvenir shops while BC and I went off to do anything else. We went to the temple where BC paid 100 yen to get his fortune. That involves getting a number by shaking a stick out of a can and then grabbing a sheet with the fortune from a drawer with the same number. His fortune was not good so he tied it to the bad fortune rack. Then we went to a playground where BC got some energy out.

Somewhere between all of that, we met back up with the girls and found a great place for dinner. It was easy to order and not busy. I had a beef ramen bowl that was really good, and ate part of BC’s crab rice bowl which was also good. The weird thing about the area is that the shops started closing up around 5:30-6pm.

Travel Log: Day 75 (9/10), Tokyo Japan

Most of the school morning was normal, but we decided to move electives to the afternoon to go eat pizza ahead of the lunch rush. The pizza was great like the past two times, and the staff was even more friendly. One of the cooks came out as we were getting ready to leave and asked me where we were from. I told him United States, Colorado, and he said “ah the Rockies!”. Meaning the baseball team which happened to be playing on their TV. I said “yes, they aren’t very good, but we still like them” and he laughed. I guess he understood what I said, although I couldn’t gauge the full extent of his English. It was tied for the warmest interaction we’ve had here so far, and I’m hoping for more of that.

We got Lawson for dinner and went on a couple walks. Out of boredom I tried to record some EVPs. Yes I was really bored, and thought this would be fun after having heard some recently on youtube. I figured people were mostly just faking them, but to my surprise I got a couple. First I left the phone in BC’s room which was empty, and I got a voice like recording (unintelligible to me) with sort of a pig noise. Without knowing I got that, I moved the phone to the laundry room for several minutes. That’s where the second one was recorded, which was a loud sigh/gasp. Pretty strange that I could pick these up in just 20 minutes of recording. I don’t think I’ll dig into this further as it creeps me out.
