Traveling Toward Fire

A Premature FI Experiment

Hangovers And Workouts

Travel Log: Day 5 (7/2), Costa Rica

Morning

JC and I both slept like shit. That’s par for the course after drinking the previous night. I was happy to not wake up with any sort of food poisoning after our roadside fast food. It’s a double bonus because it means we can keep eating there, and the price is right. It was only $26 for all four of us.

We started looking seriously at our next leg in Costa Rica so we can get that booked. We were sort of set on Jaco until someone told us it was overrun with prostitutes. I think they are being silly, and we may still go to Jaco. I don’t personally think hookers are an issue as I don’t plan to patron them. The bigger issue in my mind is how bad the van ride to La Fortuna was. I tried to convince JC that we should take a small local flight for $300 more than the van ride. She insists the van will be ok though. We looked at lodging in both Jaco and Santa Teresa but nothing is decided yet.

We walked all the way into Fortuna today and just looked around. The highlight was being adopted by a local dog. He was handsome and protective. It chased a couple of cars that were too noisy and fast, getting hit by one of them (he’s ok I think). The dog had to be owned by someone because it had a collar and looked well cared for. Probably a family based on the way he was escorting us and looking out for us. He gained the name “Suicide Biff”, after I named him Biff and then he immediately ran into traffic and got hit in the face by a rear fender.

Afternoon

Worked out today in a similar way to how I did in Colorado, but I had to cross off many things from my list without weights. I might have to hit a local gym once a week to cover the workouts that need weights. It felt good to be getting into a routine with that.

Evening

JC made delicious corn tortilla tacos with rice, beans, tomatoes, and avocado.

Looking to go to bed early tonight and get my sleep reset.
