We are a family of four living in the Denver suburbs that took a chance on a premature FIRE experiment. Despite having not achieved FIRE at home, we went on an international slow travel adventure. We took the kids out of school, I quit my job, and we rented out our house. The rental income and lower cost of living internationally put us across the FIRE threshold. Upon returning we found the FIRE experiment had worked, and we hit FIRE back at home in CO.
I (DC) have had an average to good tech career. My wife (JC) sacrificed career ambitions to raise our kids and be on point for everything in our life. To make that work financially required a lot of discipline and intentionality. That has really only been possible as the byproduct of a great marriage, and two people who are in lockstep together.
We have two kids. AC is a high school age girl, and BC is a middle school age boy.
