Travel Log: Day 101 (10/6), Osaka Japan
Typical school day, nothing special. JC and I went for a long walk and in the evening we watched the broncos game. I got in a decent workout today as well.
Travel Log: Day 102 (10/7), Osaka Japan
This was an unusually action packed day. For school we only did the first couple of subjects and then decided to head out and do stuff.
Nara Park
Since we were having trouble buying aquarium tickets, we figured we would just head to Nara Park since no tickets are required. Nara Park is about 45 minutes by train east of Osaka, and it has deer that will bow to get a treat. We bought two packs of treats when we got there, but BC immediately lost most of his because a deer snatched it out of his hands. I took AC’s and put them in my pocket until we could get out of the initial area. This is a major tourist attraction so the entry to the park from the subway is just loaded with people. It seems most people don’t really move beyond that area. We found a relatively empty space a few hundred yards further. It was pretty amazing how the deer have learned to bow. I’m not entirely sure if they are now teaching each-other or still learning from people.

Dotonbori Date Night
JC and I went on a date night in the Dontonbori area. It was easily my favorite date night on our travels so far. At night Dotonbori is much more lively and beautiful than we saw during the day. We started off by getting drinks by the river and people watching. Next we went to another restaurant on the river and had dinner. We wandered around after that and then made our way to an old school arcade bar called The Space Station. It was fun playing the games and having conversations with a random traveler from Australia and the bartender from Canada. The bartender doesn’t even speak Japanese very well but was hired because it was mainly a western bar. He said he teaches English as well. The solo traveler we talked to has been to a bunch of places so we talked to her about all of that.
