Travel Log: Day 148 (11/22), Guam
In the morning JC and I walked over to our local beach. There was supposed to be a dragon boat festival going on. From what we could gather they were just getting started for the day, with teams doing warmups. We watched for a while but it was taking forever for them to get to the races, so we went back home and figured we’d check it out later.
Later in the day we went to the beach again and we were able to see some racing. It wasn’t all that exciting to watch. BC played in the water while JC and I paced back and forth on the beach.

After that we came back to the house and JC and I had a happy hour, and then watched a movie.
Travel Log: Day 149 (11/23), Guam
Today we finally got around to visiting Tarzan Falls in Guam. These falls are on the east-central side of the island near Yona. It took a 30 minute drive to get there from Tumon Bay, and then it’s about a 1.5 mile hike into the falls.
The Hike
The trail was reasonably well marked with orange ribbons to indicate you are on course. It was super muddy getting there, with the first and last 100 yards being the worst. It was bad enough that I wondered at the start whether we should go through with it.
This was one of the easier and drier parts of the path in the middle:

The Falls
Once you make it through the mud and to the falls, they are incredible! AC and BC swam around a bit while JC and I just hung out in the shade enjoying the scenery.

The return trip was a little bit easier, at least for AC and me because we took our sandals off and just went barefoot. Going uphill is also easier to control. We discovered on the way back we can avoid the worst mud on that initial 100 yard stretch by walking a parallel road used to service a wind turbine. Wish we had known that on the hike to the falls.

This was a really good small adventure with manageable obstacles and a great reward at the end.
The Rest Of The Day
In the afternoon I was sort of on autopilot after two nights of not sleeping well. I’m really looking forward to bed, and am set up for a good sleep score. The kids are on ice cream watch; I think I can pull a 90+ sleep score.
In the evening JC and I walked through the Tumon Sunday night market and it was especially busy. I really like the buzz of that market and will miss it.
