Traveling Toward Fire

A Premature FI Experiment

Dead Bodies Floating In Natural Pools

For information on the natural pools see day 131 below.

Travel Log: Day 130 (11/4), Guam

It was a school day Tuesday. For lunch we went to the belt sushi place at Village Of Donki called Waka Sakura. It was very similar to those we experienced in Japan. The main differences are that the prices are higher (~$91), they bring you water and napkins, and the orders arrive a little slower. It all tasted really good.

While at Donki the kids got ice cream because I got a 90 sleep score last night.

Throughout the day I put my modified workout plan into action and got through five rounds for a total of seven so far this week. I feel surprisingly wiped out, probably due to a combo of getting out of shape and these rounds being more intense now that they aren’t stacked together. I’m feeling really positive about this plan. I’m also applying it to my Spanish learning, doing several single lessons through the day rather than a contiguous hour.

BC mom and I watched the Nuggets vs Blazers game. Then we went on various combos of us walking. JC made sheet pan pizza for dinner which was really good.

Inarajan Natural Pools

This morning we went to the Inarajan Natural Pools. It wasn’t the best weather; it was very windy and rained part of the time we were there. That obscured the views in the water, so snorkeling wasn’t very good. We still had a pretty good time though going off the diving platform, and playing “dead body” in the currents. It’s a game that BC AC and I do for our own amusement. We float face down lifeless looking like a dead body floating along.

AC and I played king of the rock on this creepy giant rock just below the surface out in the middle of the deep pool. Something about that thing just straight gave me the creeps because you can see it from up above on the shore, but when you’re swimming to it you just suddenly start to see this massive thing lurking under the surface.

Toward the end of our time there, mom got in the water as well and floated on some pool noodles.

Chamorro Village Wednesday Night Market

In the evening we went to the night market and ate some Chamorro food. Chamorro food is pretty plain and mild I’m gathering, which is surprising when you look at the red rice. It seems like that stuff would be flavorful and spicy, but it’s neither. After eating we walked around to various shops, and JC found her earrings for Guam (she’s getting a pair in each location). AC bought some small things as well.

Parking at the venue was a nightmare and we had to go park at the Guam History Museum. There was less here than we thought there would be. There were only a handful of food options, and maybe ten or so different shops to buy things. We weren’t overly impressed but we’ll give it a try again next week.
