Travel Log: Day 12 (7/9), Costa Rica
Today was the undisputed best day so far in Costa Rica, thanks to a completely free activity (aside from a $3 Uber ride). This is exactly the antidote to yesterday’s failures. The place we went to is called “El Salto” or “The Jump”. It’s a small waterfall with large boulders, and the locals tied a rope-swing to a tree overhanging a small cliff. It was so much fun swinging in from the rope and jumping off the various rock faces. This is something we will be returning to do multiple times. It is hands down the best thing we have done in Costa Rica. It was better than the coffee/chocolate tour ($175) and better than the La Fortuna waterfall ($80). This has inspired us to definitely check out the free hot springs before visiting the pay hot springs.
The earlier portion of the day consisted of required tasks. I did an hour of Duo Lingo, and worked out as best I can for back/biceps. BC forgot his water bottle at the park where I used the pull-up bar. We went back for it not more than 10 minutes later and it was gone. Used that moment to explain to the kids that the low value we place on things like a basic metal water-bottle is not how the local people value those things. No big deal, and good to learn that lesson on a water bottle.
